Hi! I’m Amanda. Just your normal 32 year old woman. Hmmm wait. Scratch that! I guess I am far from normal.
I don’t wear power suits, I don’t juggle a career with 2.5 kids, a busy husband and a white, picket fence. I don’t have kids. I have cats. Many. Don’t ask. My mother and I live together in the outer western suburbs of Melbourne. Not near the forward thinking hipster grounds of Brunswick, Northcote and Clifton Hill. Before you tell yourself…”Hmmmmm this woman must have a hairy back and zero personality”, I ask you not to make an assumption just yet.
Much like most kids growing up in the 80s, I was raised on meat and 3 veg. And if it wasn’t meat and 3 veg….you guessed it….it was meat and 3 veg. AND.I.LOVED.IT. Still do like the taste of meat. All meat. Though, something happened 6 months back. I woke up. The blinkers came off and I finally saw the Industry that we are so brainwashed by, for what it really was. I won’t harp on about that, feel free to do your own research. If you dare.
I became vegan over night and have not looked back. Initially, all I craved was a chicken roll from Red Rooster and a Maccas chocolate sundae (extra, EXTRA sauce). The thought of both now though turns my stomach. Being vegan for me is a joy. A pleasure. Not some fad or extreme diet (as most are so misguidedly led to believe). I have never eaten better, nor diverse dishes. Things I would have never contemplated prior.
This is my personal blog, my journey from meat ravishing carnivore to plant based herbivore. My Very Small Vegan Kitchen will be a place where I share my experiences and my recipes. My experiments, epic fails, but most of all, delicious, everyday dishes.
Please enjoy 🙂
